INTRODUCTION - MVTC

Mercy Lanka is a local NGO that had been working since 1997 in social welfare activities in Sri Lanka.In the year 2007, the management of Mercy Lanka decided to establish an educational institute with residential facilities which were named MERCY EDUCATION COMPLEX (MEC), and commenced their academic activities in 2010. After the dedicated services of all members of staff with a visionary journey the MERCY EDUCATION COMPLEX has been upgraded to MERCY EDUCATION CAMPUS (MEC) in 2018. 

MERCY EDUCATION CAMPUS(MEC) has designed all its programs related to the personality development of students in a way that comprises fundamental components of development needed to produce emotionally balanced personalities.Further Vocational wing of MEC has succeed in Producing a set of more than 723 youth technicians skilled in Electrician, Welder, Industrial Plumber/Plumber, Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic &  Automobile Mechanic.This area of expertise is a value addition to the output of MERCY EDUCATION CAMPUS (MEC)and expected to have a good impact on social and economic development of the relevant familes in particular and to the nation in general. It is expected that this step will open the venue to produce skilled youths to highly demanding local and foreign labor market in this field. Accordingly it could be proudly and loudly mentioned that a number of skilled technicians of this institute have already been in Tri-Forces.

Through education and all other facilities are made available proportionately equal for all students, individual talents and performances differ from student to student and this reflects in their examination results as well. Therefore, recognizing individual differences, Mercy Vocational Training Centre, this is a subsidiary of Mercy Education. The campus has been arranged to offer vocational skill development programs as an alternative career path for school leavers who attain relatively lower results in their G.C.E. (O/L) examinations.

Our first batch of Electrician, Welder & Industrial Plumber/Plumber courses was started on 16-02-2010 (2010-2011). The first batch of electrician course had 20 trainees, the first batch of Welder course had 15 trainees &first batch of Plumber / Industrial Plumber had 21 trainees who successfully passed out their courses.And we MVTC established new technical courses by name of Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic. Our first batch of Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic courses was started in 16-02-2012 and had 14 trainees who successfully passed out their courses.

Moreover, Automobile Mechanic courses introduce in 2017 giving further boost to Department of Professional and Vocational Education. Our first batch of Automobile Mechanic courses was started on 24-05-2017. Refrigeration & A/C Mechanic had 19 trainees who successfully passed out their coursesNecessary arrangements have already been taken to develop the courses establishing a fully-fledged professional and industrial field. 

Connectivity with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission - TVEC

Our Vocational Training Centre is registered with the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission under P13/0039. The first registration was started with TVEC on 26-05-2011. Welder, Industrial Plumber/Plumber courses were accredited with TVEC by the NVQ Level - 3 on 26-05-2011, and Electrician courses were accredited with TVEC by the NVQ Level - 3 on 26-05-2011. All these courses upgraded to NVQ Level - 4 now.The refrigeration & A/C Mechanic course was accredited with TVEC by the NVQ Level - 3 in 14-10-2015. Above courses upgraded to NVQ Level - 4 now.The Automobile Mechanic course was accredited with TVEC by the NVQ Level - 3 on 19-10-2019. Necessary arrangements have already been taken to upgrade the above courses by the NVQ Level - 4.Here are the accredited courses National Competency Standard (NCS) by the TVEC.
